What about babies?
Because babies' skin is particularly delicate, we recommend consulting your pediatrician before introducing a new cleansing product to an infant's routine

Face

Wet your face with lukewarm water. Work the bar between wet hands to create a creamy lather, then gently massage the lather onto your skin.

Rinse thoroughly and avoid the eye area.

Body

Wet your skin and work the bar into a rich lather using your hands, washcloth or bathing sponge.

Massage gently over the body and rinse thoroughly.

For dry skin, follow with your favourite MEJS moisturizer or body butter while your skin is still slightly damp.

Handmade soap needs to dry between uses.

After bathing:

Place the bar on a well-draining soap dish.
Keep it out of standing water.
Avoid leaving it directly under the shower stream.
Allow air to circulate around the bar.
Let it dry as much as possible between uses.
The drier your soap stays between uses, the longer it will last.

Is the Oatmeal Bar fragrance-free?

Yes. It contains no added fragrance.

Does it exfoliate?

Yes. The colloidal oatmeal contributes a gentle exfoliating quality to the bar. It isn't intended to be a harsh physical scrub.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

The bar was formulated with dry and sensitive skin preferences in mind and is fragrance-free. Individual sensitivities vary, so patch testing is a sensible precaution when trying a new product.

Does it have an oatmeal smell?

No added fragrance is used, so there is no deliberately added oatmeal fragrance.

Can I use it on my whole body?

How long does one bar last?

How long the bar lasts depends on how frequently you use it and how you store it. Keeping it dry between uses will help extend its life.

Yes. The soap is handcrafted in Ghana by MEJS Enterprise.

What happens during soapmaking?

Sodium hydroxide and water are essential components of the soapmaking process.

During saponification, sodium hydroxide reacts with the oils and shea butter to create soap.

Sodium hydroxide is not simply added to the finished soap as a cleansing ingredient; it is part of the chemical process that transforms the oils and butter into soap.

Our curing process

MEJS soaps are cured for at least 4 weeks to allow the bars to harden and develop their finished characteristics.
